Kingston Women’s Bike Festival seeks to empower healthy, diverse, and engaged communities to create environments which make bicycling accessible to women and safe for everyone. “Bike riders know that momentum is vital to any ride, but so is understanding the terrain,” says KWBF co-founder Rose Quinn. “We not only want to see the road ahead, we want to play a role in where it takes us. We believe in the power of informed bike riders and community members alike.” All KWBF events are free to the public.

During this day-long celebration of safe, empowered cycling in the Hudson Valley, we will also have Expect A Bike yard signs available by local artist Ryan Cronin and O+ will unveil our new mobile mural by BoogieREZ. Sarah Dukler, of Kingston Adventures, will kick off the day leading an 18 mile gravel ride on the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail, returning to Kingston by way of the O&W Rail Trail. Check out the full schedule of events below!

Through the generous support of O+’s partner, WMC Health, O+ is proud to co-host the BlO+ck Party at Keegan Ales alongside Bike Friendly Kingston and in partnership with Scenic Hudson, Athletic Brewing Company, The Cronin Gallery and Live Well Kingston. BFK Thursday Slow Ride

The Slow Ride is exactly what we advertise in the name: a laid-back community ride where all bicyclists are welcome. With each Slow Ride we seek to have fun, build community, practice safe riding and build confidence in beginning riders. We enjoy riding with bicyclists of all fitness and ability levels. We like to ring our bells a lot as we ride around town and stop for ice cream as often as we can get away with it.

As always, meet at the YMCA Parking lot at 6:00 PM. Remember to bring water, a helmet, a mask, and your bike light.

Slow Ride: River View on River Road

John Lynch will be leading a ride he is calling "River View on River Road."

It will be a longer ride, around 16 beautiful miles. The itinerary for the ride is to take Broadway to Wurts, cross the bridge and go up Sunset/Doyers through Port Ewen, so as to get to the start of River Road with only being on 9W for a moment, probably crossing on foot. Continuing on to Esopus Meadows for a bring-your-own-snack break/rest stop. Then doubling back through Port Ewen to Salem St/New Salem and out onto Abeel. Uphill on Wilbur/W. O'Reilly back to the Y.15.3 miles by that route.

John is hoping to encourage access to wonderful destinations on the outskirts of the City, despite obstacles such as busy busy main roads. He also wants to take advantage of the later sunset for a longer ride while still at an easy pace.

Wear a helmet, have front and rear lights, bring snacks and water. Check the Facebook event for cancellations due to weather.
